Group Therapy

Group therapy can be a powerful experience that helps connect aspects of your character and history that may not show up in individual therapy sessions.

If you are curious about joining a group but are unsure about being in therapy with others, I invite you to schedule a phone consultation so we can discuss how this treatment modality may benefit you and your mental health goals.

I have two groups forming now, and I will schedule based on the availability of the members.

Schedule a phone consultation to discuss if group therapy may be right for you.

What Can I Expect in Group Therapy?

Joining Group:

If after our intitial phone consultation you decide you would like to join a group, I will send you paperwork to complete.  This will include general practice paperwork, and some specific to participating in group therapy.  I will also send you a pre-group therapy assessment to complete online at home prior to our first meeting.

Pre-Group Individual Session:

Prior to your first group session, we will meet and go over your relevant history, discuss the results of your assessment, and set goals for what you hope to accomplish in group.  This is also a time to ask questions and share any concerns you may have.

Group Sessions:

Weekly 90-minute sessions are held in my office in Santa Rosa, CA.

Post-Group Individual Closeout Session:

A post-group individual session is included in your fee for the Patterns to Possibilities Group, and is recommended after leaving the Transition to Motherhood Group, to reinforce the work completed in group therapy, discuss further treatment goals and options, and wrap up care.

Groups Accepting New Members

Transition to Motherhood Group

Isolation, depression, and anxiety are common in the postpartum period and motherhood can also trigger patterns developed in childhood.

This supportive psychotherapy group will allow members to share their birth stories, the challenges that come from a significant life transition as well as process their experiences from their families of origin.

This group will provide support as well as a process element similar to the Patterns to Possibilities Group.

Mothers may bring infants to the group.

Members join the group for a month at a time, committing to attend weekly sessions.

Membership will change monthly as new members join and current members leave.

Fees:

$250 individual pre-group session (required, one-time fee)

$75 per group session

(billed monthly)

Optional: $250 post-group individual closeout session

(recommended, one-time fee).

Fees are due at the first group session of the month, and at time of service for any individual sessions.

Patterns to Possibilities: An Interpersonal Process Group

The Patterns to Possibilities Group is focused on targeted interpersonal change in the here and now.  Meaning, the focus is on what you experience while in the group with the other members, and not on what has happened in your past or outside life.  In this group, you will:

  • Deepen your insight into your interpersonal patterns

  • Identify specific areas for interpersonal growth

  • Experiment with new ways of relating

  • Give and receive direct feedback

  • Bring what you learn into your relationships outside the group
